I thought that new click-lock vinyl plank was just a gimmick for DIYers.
Had to put it in a small bathroom in a Phoenix rental last month and was ready for a fight. But the stuff from that Coretec line went down smooth over the old tile, no underlayment needed, and the lock held tight even with my big boots on it. Anyone else find a product they wrote off that actually saved a job?

Coretec is great but you still need a moisture barrier over tile in a bathroom.

Actually, @emerycarr, that's not quite right for a lot of installs. A proper Coretec floor is already fully waterproof on its own. If the tile subfloor is flat and sound, you can put it right on top without an extra barrier. Adding one can actually trap moisture where you don't want it.

David's totally right about the waterproof core. We put Coretec right over our old bathroom tile last year and it's been perfect. The install guide even said not to add a vapor barrier on top of non-porous surfaces. It seems like extra layers could cause more problems than they solve, right?
