Rant: Saw a coffee shop in Portland with a 'no laptops' sign after 3pm

It's a solid reminder that our 'office' is wherever we can plug in, but also that some spots are over our grind. How do you guys handle finding reliable places to work when you're traveling?

Totally get it. Saw the same thing in Seattle last month. Felt like getting kicked out of the library. My move now is hitting up public libraries in whatever city I land in. They never kick you out for working. Free wifi, outlets everywhere, and usually dead quiet. Some even have private rooms you can book for free. It's my go to plan when cafes start getting picky.

Oh man, libraries are seriously underrated for this. I did the exact same thing after getting the boot from a hipster coffee shop in Portland that had a "2 hour max" rule for laptops. Now I just scope out the nearest library whenever I'm in a new city. Some of them are honestly nicer than the cafes I used to go to. The one I hit up in Austin had these huge desks with built-in outlets and you could book a private study room for like 3 hours at a time. Never had a single person ask me to leave or buy something. Plus nobody gives you dirty looks for eating a granola bar at your desk.

Honestly some libraries do have time limits though.
