inI was cleaning out my grandpa's old shop and found a 1947 cabinetmaker's wage stub. He made 95 cents an hour.
Yeah, calling it "just an old piece of paper" kinda misses the whole story behind it...

inShowerthought: The worst tempered glass job I ever had was in a 1920s apartment building downtown.
My old boss taught me to take three width and height measurements, top middle bottom. You use the smallest number from each set for the final glass size. That extra quarter inch of clearance saves a lot of headaches on those crooked frames.

inGot called out for my messy panel labeling on a Reno job
Oh man, I was totally a sharpie person for years. I figured it was dark and it's right there. But hearing stuff like @adams.dylan's story about the blue smudges really changed my mind. It's not just about fading, it's about leaving a mess for someone else to fix later. That's just rude. Spending a little more time or money on a real label now saves so much trouble down the road. I get it now.

inUnpopular opinion: people are way too scared of cutting their fenders
Yeah, saw a video where a guy did exactly that, @knight.taylor. Just a clean cut along the factory seam. Looked so much better than a lift.

inI finally had a project pitch fall apart in a client meeting last Thursday.
Push back on the budget concern by asking what specific number would work. Sometimes they just need to hear the real value first before they give you a real budget to work with. That move has saved a few deals for me.
