Realized my bank was charging me $15 a month for nothing
I was looking through my statements last month and noticed a $15 monthly fee on my checking account. I’ve had that account for like 6 years and never questioned it. Called them up and they said I could switch to a free account with the same features. Took me 20 minutes on the phone and now I save $180 a year. Has anyone else found random fees they just ignored for years?

Wait, $15 a month? That's not just pocket change, that's $180 a year you could've been spending on something nice. I remember when I found out my gym was charging me for a "maintenance fee" on top of the monthly rate and I'd been paying it for almost two years. Bank fees have a way of sneaking up on you like that.

Man, I gotta push back a little here. Look, I get it, $180 adds up, but compared to all the other junk we burn money on without blinking (like, say, streaming services or coffee runs) it's sorta small potatoes. And honestly, @janab82 has a point - it's more about the annoyance than the actual dent in your wallet. I'd rather focus my energy on the big monthly bills that really sting, you know?
