My company switched from paper logbooks to a tablet app for crane inspections last month

Before, we'd spend maybe 20 minutes at shift start filling out the same checkboxes and hunting for a pen. Now, the app has photos of each component to tap, and it flags any missed items. The whole thing takes under 10 minutes and the boss gets the report instantly. Has anyone else's yard made this kind of switch, and what app are you using?

Hold up, they gave you a tablet that actually works on a jobsite? Ours would be covered in concrete dust and have a cracked screen by lunchtime on day one. The idea of tapping photos instead of finding a pen sounds like science fiction compared to our soggy paper logs. I'm shocked the boss gets the report instantly, ours still walks around collecting the clipboard at the end of the week. What's the battery life like on that thing?

Heard about my buddy's site getting these rugged cases for their tablets, like the kind you could drop in a mud puddle. His boss gets alerts the second they mark something done, which is wild. Battery lasts the whole shift, but they have to plug it in at the trailer overnight.
