Rant: I thought those overnight bus rides in Vietnam were a scam to save $15

Seriously, I was the same way! Always avoided them thinking they'd be cramped and miserable. Took one from Bangkok to Chiang Mai on a whim and was shocked, the seats fully reclined into a bed and they gave us blankets. Actually slept way better than on some flights.

Had to choose between a 12-foot lift rental or building a crazy scaffold for a cathedral ceiling job.

My buddy had the exact same problem with a scissor lift on his sloped garage floor. He ended up using a bunch of those composite shims meant for doors and windows, the plastic ones. He drove the lift onto them slowly and they didn't crack under the weight, which was a surprise. Took him a few tries to get the stack height right but it was way faster than messing with wood blocks. He keeps a box in his truck now just for that. Not perfect for every situation but it saved his bacon.
